Biography

Dr. Jung earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the School of Medicine, Inha University, South Korea. Following his postdoctoral training at the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), he investigated synaptic plasticity electrophysiology before transitioning to the Max Planck Institute-Experimental Medicine (MPI-EM) in Germany, where he delved into the precise mechanisms of presynaptic vesicle exocytosis. At the Synaptic Nanophysiology departments of Max Planck Institute-Biochemistry (MPI-BPC) and the Institute for Auditory Neuroscience (InnerEar Lab), University of Göttingen, Germany (2009-2016), Dr. Jung focused on studying the unique physiological functions and ultra-structure of ribbon synapses in the inner ear sensory organ.

In 2016, Dr. Jung established the Neuromodulation and Neurocircuitry (NMNC) lab as a Group Leader at the Singapore Bioimaging Consortium (SBIC), A*STAR. Concurrently, he served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Physiology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS). Later in 2021, he transferred with his team to pursue his research within the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), A*STAR. In March 2023, Dr. Jung transitioned to CHA University, assuming the role of Associate Professor and the Director of CHA Animal Facility.
